Topic 26 of 105: suzyamis.com and janhooks.com ... but what next?

Sun, Aug 2, 1998 (18:53) | Paul Terry Walhus (terry)
What domains should we set up for babes? In other words, who are the up
and coming babes of the next century that we should invest domain name
stock in now? We already have janhooks.com and suzyamis.com. But perhaps
there are better ones that we should register and develope?

Was that a question, Terry? Who is Elza.com? She is my youngest girlie. Two years old, and Isa is three. Just in case that WAS a question.

Sophia is my granny's name too, Wolf, and I was always a little annoyed with mum for not giving me that name too - it's one of my favourites.

You mean Jennifer Love Hewitt?

Jennifer Love Hewitt
(Julie James)
Jennifer Love Hewitt is currently most widely-known as Sarah Reeves on
the series "Party of Five." In the past, she has been seen in such
short-lived shows such as "Byrds of Paradise" and "McKenna." It is
rumored that she is to star in the sequel, "I Still Know What You Did
Last Summer" with Freddie Prinze Jr., which supposedly begins taping in
mid-98.

I hear she's also starring in "I Know What Jane Austen Did Last Summer" (OK, that is the last one!)

Riette, my husband took a lot of time off lately so we could finish revamping my kitchen. By evening I'm too tired and sore to sit here and think! You'll be seeing me more now. How was the Lakes District?

Well, it's nice to have you back, Autumn - wish my kitchen could get a revamp, but I believe practical kitchens are against the law in Switzerland. The Lakes District was stunning - England at its best; plus the baths all had two taps (and somehow the water always managed to come out cold in the end!!), the toilets were VERY noisy as only english toilets can be, and the weather was miserable. But I loved it!

Sounds like the quintessential English vacation! How wonderful. Now about those kitchens--the Swiss have such terrific little kitchen-y gadgets, why aren't they designing efficient kitchens??

All the Xfiles names are taken.

To check to see if a name is available go to http://www.internic.net and
go to the 'whois' link.

A lady in a news story on NPR this morning made $2 million recently by
registering syndicatednews.com and a few other names. She's good at it.
She also got inspired by the overhead signs at her local supermarket and
made quite a bit by registering these.

Actually, syndicatednews.com got 6 figures from the news media. I think
she made about $2 mil in 4 months being imaginative in thinking up domain
names and registereing them.

We could actually support the Spring this way if y'all came upwith some
really cool names of the future that I could register and build websites
around. Example: silkclothes.com, silkclothing.com, silkcloth.com which
I just registered. Also, colinfirth.com was registered last night.

 Response 30 of 120: Paul Terry Walhus (terry) * Mon, Aug 17, 1998 (14:42) * 5 lines

These are all taken already. Too generic. It costs $70 to register a name.
You can see if it's taken at http://www.internic.net

I will co-register all suggestions and split the sale price with you.
I'll make up an instructional webpage.

so the domain names perhaps should be more specific?

 Topic 26 of 105 [babes]: suzyamis.com and janhooks.com ... but what next?
 Response 32 of 120: Paul Terry Walhus (terry) * Mon, Aug 17, 1998 (17:51) * 8 lines

Yeah, they should be as generic as possible but not obviously generic.
Which is why we couldn't register silk.com but we were easily able to get
silkcloth, silkclothes, silkclothing, etc. and these are commercially
viable names. I mean, the market for silk clothes is huge, isn't it?

There must be other obvious opportunites. It would be a good exercise to
scroll through a mall with a notepad. I bet you would come home with a
winner!

Let's see what an http://www.inference.com search turns up:

194. Q: What is happening when you hear varoom...screech,
varoom...screech, varoom...screech..... ?
A: A blonde trying to drive through an intersection with a flashing red
light.

The astro-electric instrumental "Deja Varoom" will also flirt your mortal
coil with BEACH BLANKET BINGO-on acid, peppermint-twistin' fuzzy-bass
death, but never fear -- the safety of the line-dancin' rockabilly
"Country Funk" will uncurl your white knuckles from their nail-digging
vinyl armrest grip as it serenades you with its trailer-trash honky-tonk
sound.

How about an alternative! Every time you whisk up the Thruway you drive
right past it. Without even thinking about it you drive right by one of
the most spectacular winter sports areas in the Northeast, varoom.

Must hear this one:

CarTalk Postcard Center ...varoom!

Geoffrey could do naught but stare in shock. Of all the things
he had expected to see in his life, this was by far the least. Suddenly, the
hum turned into a monsterous VAROOM! A spear of light shot out from
under the craft, towards a building a few blocks from Geoffrey. The beam
lasted a hundredth of a second, and yet it seemed to hang in the air as if it were
solid. from http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/~fpiringe/AR/geoff.txt

It's Varoom, home of the world's most exotic cars and this little student
project is pretty awesome for it's collection of brands.

That's GREAT, Wolf, congratulations! And I'd also love to see it. Could you scan it through, pleeeeeeze?

As far as our virtual gallery is concerned - don't you think it would be fun if we all shared in the whole thing? Like if we set up a sort of board, with you, Wolf, as the mega creative business woman around here, heading it. We create a conference similar to the inner sanctum thing that Wer is working on, but a conference where we all work together closely. We share ideas, whatever art gets exhibited in the gallery should be approved by the boar to ensure good quality, whoever wants to join the board
ust be approved by everyone, the board should decide on things like how much to ask for each picture, etc. etc., as well as approve the layout of the web page. I mean, Wer, Wolf and I can combine our practical talents, but it is always a good thing to have extra, objective eyes to guide one. I'm probably being over ambitious again, and I know it's going to be a slow, small start, but I don't want it to be just another boring gallery page on the web. I feel that together we might just turn it into some
hing that people will enjoy coming to - not only that, but if we should make a few dollars on it here and there, we can give the Spring fund a 10% cut. Please tell me if I'm being ridiculous - I'm just always a bit weary of doing things all by myself, since my taste isn't necessarily going to be that of the people who will visit the gallery, and then it'll stand no chance of doing well.

Oh, that crap will work itself out - we'll find out about that when the time comes. First we have to design the page TOGETHER, design it in such a way that people won't possibly be able to pass it by. In the meantime I will have all my paintings photographed professionally. As far as prices are concerned - I thought you guys could keep an eye out, get a rough idea in your local art shops/galleries of how much materials and actual paintings cost. I know about the prices over here, and we'll come up wi
h something REASONABLE inbetween. Shipping costs will vary with each country, so we include, not the highest, but among the highest of tarrifs. When I shop over the internet, I prefer having everything included.way. So, where do we go from here?
